Fresh flowers arranged with care and attention are a well received gift in any part of the world. Many people have friends living abroad, so it is hardly surprising that the need to send flowers via international flower delivery networks arises from time to time.

When choosing a company to oversee the selection and delivery of your bouquet order, it is a good idea to shop around and find a reputable company that guarantees quality as well as timely delivery.

Sending gifts abroad can be a tricky business. First of all you have to select something that would survive the knocks and bumps it would inevitably receive in the postal system, only to then have all the stress of packing it and finding that it costs more to mail that it cost to purchase.

Flowers, on the other hand, are selected and prepared at a florist situated near to the recipient’s home, meaning that they arrive in perfect condition, just as any gift should.

If you order a bouquet with short notice for delivery, do bear in mind that there may be a time difference at their destination. In some cases as much as a day either way.

Shopping online is something that most of us do now as a matter of course. Choosing a bouquet online is a great way to shop for flowers because you can immediately see what you are ordering, including the size, style and colour. This is perfect for those who don’t know their Gardenias from their Gypsophelia!

You can arrange to send flowers practically anywhere around the world and there are so many occasions for which they are perfect. You can send flowers to celebrate a birthday, make an apology or wish someone a timely recovery from illness or injury.

Many delivery companies will also prepare bouquets with extras such as Champagne and luxury chocolates for special occasions. More notice should be given for these specially requested items.

Sending flowers abroad could not be easier. Just log on, select your bouquet, add your message and then provide the full delivery address, making sure you have the relevant post or zip code. You can send flowers from Andorra to Venezuela just as easily as you can send flowers to Germany from the UK, so no matter where your friends or family are, you can make them feel special.

It’s about that time again, where you drag out the garden furniture and identify what it will take to whip it back into shape. Not the most appealing of Sunday morning tasks, but whether it’s this week or next, inevitably you, or someone else is going to have to bite the bullet. Perhaps if you just hold a clear vision in your mind’s eye of what good time you are going to have in the upcoming warm months with the assistance of those pieces of furniture. A little tender loving care from you today, and you can rely upon that outdoor furniture to come through for you repeatedly.

So, go on and psych yourself up, however you can and get to pulling out the cushions and the bases. Once you’ve seen what you must tackle you can then go forth and gather the equipment and materials that will be of use to bring the stuff back to life. Or, after you have done your once over of the inventory, pay the neighbour’s kid to bring about its salvation. But step one is always going to be to retrieve it from wherever you chose to keep it over the harsh winter months.

Chances are if your table and chairs, or sun loungers and umbrellas have been stored in a damp place you are going to be facing the battle of mildew or mold. Even if you were thinking of the future when you purchased those cushions and umbrellas, and bought weather resistant fabrics, mildew can still be an enemy. But, no worries, you can remove mildew with a concoction and some manual labour.

Check the labels on the fabric, and ascertain if you can use bleach on them. If so, arm yourself, or that gullible, underpaid teenager from next door, with a mixture of one cup bleach to every gallon of warm water. Major note – use the appropriate gloves before mixing or handling this solution. If you are instructed not to use any product using bleach, then a quick trip to the store is in order. Also, do not attempt this cleaning inside; you need proper ventilation, bleach or no bleach. Depending on the strength of the fibre you are dealing with, use a sponge or bristled brush to scrub away the unwanted coating. Then leave out to dry in direct sunlight.

If you feel like just reading this was as much effort as you are prepared to exert at this point, fine. You can always assert that the weather looks grim, and you really need to be confident that the sun will be out for the drying side of the activity. Wink, wink.

Quite often, the garden is the last space to get decked out, and when it is the idea of whether the homeowner has buildings and contents insurance is not at the forefront of their mind. We talk a lot here about all the fabulous garden furniture on the market, and we compare and contrast those items. This includes an analysis on what goes best with what, what is a bargain, what is worth spending a lot of hard earned cash on, and even how to take care of it once it is in place amongst your poppies and lavender. Frequently, we take a comical approach to our advice, and have some fun with our scrutiny, but today is different, for a couple of reasons.

While it can be a jolly good time to select garden tables and chairs, coordinate those with cushions and even outdoor rugs to create a livable space, there comes a time to be serious. And if you are being responsible from the get go, then insurance that covers the contents in your garden should not come as an afterthought. There is an order, and a very good reason for the order in which these things are done, and we want you to be prepared, because unexpected things happen.

Mainly, you should be aware of the need for such coverage, first and foremost. Sure, for some of you this will go with out saying, but perhaps for those new to possessing a garden it is not so obvious. Then there are those who have had policies in the past that involved garden contents falling within the parameters of their standard policy, but this is not always going to be the case. So, you should be cognizant of the fact that you want it.

Simply put, you want to be able to make purchases, and I mean as of that very first purchase, for your outdoor living space like you do for the interior of your house and know you have some insurance coverage. Therefore, when you are reviewing your options for home insurance confirm it includes the furniture you put in the garden, and those expensive tools that aid you in making it such a wonderful part of your home. Pretty easy thing to do, and considering it both affords you peace of mind and it could play out to be very useful, seems like a no brainer on our end. With that in place, you can get back to the enjoyment of garden life, work and play.

This month we are crazy for the Tjiknrun armchair. What makes it so special amongst the ever growing numbers of outdoor armchairs is this. It is a finely made modern design that not only brings texture and comfort to an outdoor space, but looks fantastic all the while. There is a slight Asian feel to it, and the detail of the natural teak is divine. Like I said this is a standout piece for many reasons.

The lounger is made of sturdy teak, which is able to withstand all the usual elements that nature presents. So, you can use it month after month, as long as you and your guests care to be outside. And it is just so darn pretty that everyone will look good while perched upon it too.

It is a stylish seat with a horizontal slatted back, sides and lower front. Making it a cube with a cushy cushion seat and seat back. Overall, the elements are easy to maintain. While seated in it one feels cocooned and protected, but with the slats air can circulate freely, so you don’t feel trapped or stifled. The makers of this chair pulled out all the stops in all the important categories. Maybe they do listen to us afterall.

The notion of owning your own home is very British. With one of the highest property owning rates in the world, there’s no doubt about it – us Brits just love the property market. No matter how many booms or busts it enjoys or suffers we continue to strive to be homeowners.

But it can be difficult. With mortgage lenders often requiring at least 20% of the value of the property many of us continue to rent. However, it can be done and there are real benefits of taking the most important plunge you could ever make.

Here we’ve given you just a few reasons why buying a home could make all the difference.

Your money will mean something

You’ve probably heard the phrase that renting is “dead money”. It’s no lie. Plunging your hard earned wages into a rental property isn’t going to get you anywhere. Yes you may have to stretch yourself to afford the deposit in the first place when buying, but each month you’ll know that whatever you pay out in mortgage payments will be an investment for your future.

The end is in sight

It may appear that your mortgage payments will never end, but they will one day. And when that day comes you’ll completely own your own home and won’t need to worry about expenditure going out each month. It may seem a long way off, but with rising life expectancy people are living longer. And with a longer life the benefit of owning your own property starts to look just that little bit more appealing.

Help could be at hand

If you’re looking to get your foot on the first rung of the property ladder, but struggling to meet the demands of mortgage lenders, help could be on its way.

Currently, the Coalition Government is promoting a scheme which provides you with assistance if you’re looking for a new home, without the need to stump up huge sums for the deposit. If you’re creditworthy, help could be on hand. Those in charge of running the country know the benefit of being a homeowner and they want you to join in!

Keep your eyes open on what’s happening in your local area. The next time when you sigh looking at how much your rent eats into your monthly pay cheque, investigating what you’ll be paying in mortgage payments area could well put it all into context.

With a little help – you could be in your new home before you know it.

Ever wonder what the most popular choice of outdoor furniture is? Well, currently it is cast and casual aluminum. Considering it is strong, lightweight and rust proof, what’s not to love? Hence it is what the masses are enamored with, and the experts understand why perfectly. Now you are probably questioning what the difference between cast and casual aluminum is. Simply, put casual is hollow and cast is not.

As for the tried and true selection of choice, why it is wrought iron. The older models of yesteryear were known for chipping paint, and the yearly maintenance of the same. Today, wrought iron furniture is available with undercoating and powder-coated finishes, which make all the difference in the world. With both aluminum and wrought iron are frequently paired with colorful fabric cushions. These come in acrylic fabrics that resist fading and rotting.

In my years of working with gardeners, I have found that there are two types. The ones that spring for expensive workspace tables, and the ones that wing it with a small, or no budget at all. Neither identified the more or less committed gardeners, not does it always coordinate with those with more money.

Those who furnish to impress, go for things like oversized cedar potting benches, matching framed chalkboards, and coordinating tool holders. They will have spend several hundreds of dollars or pounds on their gorgeous garden workshop furniture. This does often make a statement that implies the gardener is very serious about their outdoor work, but it is not always so.

And those in the other camp, they will have rigged unused pieces of household furniture, or been inventive with articles that they have found at market sales. But, you need not belong to one or the other groups, you can be in the middle if you do the following.

Attach a sheet of brightly painted lattice to the wall of your work area to hang your tools, and paint the frame of an otherwise unimpressive chalkboard to match or coordinate. Then, get yourself one of those fairly inexpensive rectangular plastic outdoor garden tables and cover it with an adorable oil cloth with dimensions that will conceal every inch of the table. And in a pattern with colors that compliment those of the lattice and board frame.

As care and maintenance of outdoor furniture always seems to be a hot topic over here, we will continue on with our tips on this subject. We are now covering teak furniture, as it has become increasingly popular over the last decade, and can be quite an investment. While no one wants to waste money on outdoor furniture, when you buy it at a pretty price it can be even more critical to become familiar with the correct form of upkeep.

Right off the bat, you can start to treat the teak like the superstar that it is by brushing oil evenly over the grain. Take care not to overlap the brushstokes. From the moment you begin to treat with oil, you must maintain the efforts. If you do not, then you can expect that it will turn a silver colour and will be all the more susceptible to stains.

Not only should you be diligent with the oil application, but it should only be done when the weather will not involve dew, rain or frost in the immediate future. The oil needs time to dry fully, and such weather will prohibit that from happening.

I imagine it will come as no surprise for me to say that I have a list of things to do that is beginning to weigh heavily on me. So many tasks are begun, but left unfinished because I get torn in another direction. Many times, the only reason certain chores are completed is because there is some kind of deadline on them. This was what was going on when I finally got around to get home insurance quotes from Direct Line home insurance. Is any of this sounding all too familiar?

Well, with me being in the furniture business, I know how important it is to have the contents of your home insured, and any lapses can prove disastrous. No pressure there, right? So, obviously I had to get on the ball, but I also had other deadlines looming, and things I should get a handle on too. Therefore, this time around I was committed to accomplishing more than just insuring the things I have spent decades filling my home with, I wanted to multitask. Not only with this endeavor, but as often as possible to lighten the load.

Basically, for my own peace of mind, and sanity to some extent, I must get out from under the weight of this list of tasks. I must regain control of my time management, and no longer be burdened by a lack of it. Thus, I will be taking up every offer to multi-task, and then happily scratch off another two or more things from the list.

And that is the point of this article, because I want you to know how to check off more than one thing on that to do list when the opportunity knocks. From this point forward, this is going to be a reoccurring theme in my posts, because it truly is the way to go.

So, to get started, look for companies that handle more than one thing. In the case of the home insurance policy you can also get extras like Family Legal Protection, ID Fraud Assistance, and even Annual Travel Insurance. I like to think of it as a way of double dipping, being able to handle a couple items all in one action. From here on out, I firmly believe this is the way to go, and the companies that make this possible are going to be top of my list to receive my business.

While mosaic furniture is not uncommonly found in gardens, it seems to be somewhat overlooked when it comes to upkeep. One thing that we rarely see covered in articles is how to maintain you mosaic top outdoor furniture during winter months. As is true with most outdoor furniture, when we do see guidance being given, it is highly recommended that they be covered throughout winter. Depending on the degree of the weather’s harshness, we do not think this is always necessary, but are all the more concerned with other care.

More importantly is the attention that is given to the mosaic over the course of the entire year. The mosaic artwork itself should be treated with a hard beeswax on a regular basis. The coating should be thin, if you are in fact applying it as instructed. Not only will the beeswax protect the tile from stains, it will enhance its beauty. When washing down the base (metal) with soapy hot water, look for any chipping or cracking. These will need to be repair with a matching metal paint in order to block rust from setting in.
